Every brick, every beam, every corner has something to say if you're willing to listen.
There's this tension between what was and what could be, y'know? We've spent years figuring out how to honor the past without getting stuck in it. That's where the magic happens—when a 1920s warehouse becomes someone's dream loft, or when an old church finds new life as a community hub.
Sustainability isn't a checkbox for us. It's more like... a responsibility we can't shake off. The buildings we design today will outlive us, so we better make sure they're worth keeping around.
This isn't just our tagline—it's literally what we think about every morning over coffee.
Principal Architect & Founder
Started this practice back in 2009 after spending way too many years watching good buildings get demolished for no good reason. Grew up in Toronto's Annex neighborhood, surrounded by Victorian homes that had more character in their cornices than most modern buildings have in their entire facade.
Studied at Waterloo, did some time in Vancouver working on residential projects, then came back home. Toronto was changing fast—still is—and somebody needed to make sure we weren't tearing down our identity in the name of progress.
What drives me? Walking past a building we restored five years ago and seeing it full of life. Hearing a client say they finally feel at home in their space. Finding that sweet spot where old bones meet new ideas.
We've grown from just me and a drafting table to a team of twelve passionate folks who actually give a damn about getting the details right. Still feels surreal sometimes.
Every site has a story. The neighborhood, the light, the people who'll walk past it daily—all of it shapes what we create. Cookie-cutter solutions? Not our thing.
Green building shouldn't mean slapping solar panels on everything. It's about smart material choices, passive design, and creating spaces that won't need major overhauls in ten years.
Old buildings need to work for modern life. That means thoughtful interventions, not museum pieces. A restored building that nobody can use isn't really saved at all.
Yeah, we want our work to look good, but if it doesn't serve the folks using it every day, we've failed. Function and beauty aren't enemies—they're partners.
We're a mix of dreamers and detail-obsessed perfectionists. Architects, heritage consultants, sustainability specialists, and a couple of folks who just really love old buildings. Everyone brings something different to the table, which is exactly how we like it.
Whether it's a heritage restoration or a ground-up sustainable build, we'd love to hear what you're thinking about.
